Info
Leyre Román Puente (b. 1999) is a visual artist living and working in Bilbao.
What would it be like to live in a time when the only means to see a close-up of Garbo’s face for a second time was to return to the cinema? How much do we lose of that initial bewilderment through repetition? Leyre Román Puente’s practice emerges from fulguration, from those moments of sudden flash. By addressing issues such as what takes place in front of and behind the camera, the set, and the dismantling of the traditional modes of representation associated with cinema’s golden age, she engages with notions linked to sacralization and mythification.
