The Most Beautiful Kiss in The World was born from a vertical phone-recording of my computer screen I took while watching Paul Verhoeven’s 1995 film Showgirls. From the need to work with that video of a kiss and the aftertaste that the film left me, I began to create a sculpture made of lingerie and metallic elements. The piece, staged with pink light and other objects such as tripods and extension cords, create a composition reminiscent of a backstage or a behind the scenes situation—this being a determining place in show business as well as being constantly represented by Verhoeven in the film. The installation is centered on themes such as the representation of women, iconography, performativity, the hyperbolic, and cinema as a medium in which light is essential.
